The Pickleball summer season at the Vienna Sporthotel came to an end with the 2nd PFA Vienna Pickleball Open on September 15, 2024. 35 players braved the storms and generated 53 entries in six competitions: beginner & intermediate doubles, women’s doubles, open gender doubles, mixed doubles, women’s singles, open gender singles. Four Pickleball courts were marked out on the facility’s hard tennis hard courts from May to September; numerous events had taken place here – including the 2nd Austrian Pickleball Championships.

Past and Future
The 1st PFA Vienna Pickleball Open was the first tournament organized by the Pickleball Federation Austria in August 2023. We started in the Donaucity sports center on 2 courts. Because of rain we had to move indoors. Looking back, we all had a great time and a fantastic first event with several international players.
Within a year the Pickleball community in Vienna grew and we are grateful to all of you for making our tournaments so entertaining! Thanks to our many supporters we got great new playing opportunities across the country – including the temporary venue in the Vienna Sporthotel on their tennis hard court. The facility was very satisfied with the “Pickleball Experiment”. Hundreds of hours of Pickleball were played; the players were welcome as well as the Pickleball Federation Austria will be welcome again in summer 2025.
