Just under a year since the formation of the Pickleball Federation Austria, we are proud to announce several new developments in May 2024, making Pickleball more accessible to a wider audience in Vienna. A lot is also happening outside the capital city: Pickleball Vorarlberg is organizing the first tournament; Pickleball Salzburg opens the season.

1. Independent Play – Open to All

• Like last year, two outdoor courts with plastic tiles at Sportcenter Donaucity can be booked via Eversports.
• New: a tennis court at Sportunion Rackathletes Austria’s site in Europahalle has been converted into 4 pickleball courts, available for rent via eTennis .
• New: at Vienna Sporthotel, a tennis hard court has been transformed into 4 pickleball courts, also bookable via Eversports

Equipment rental is available on-site, no setup (like putting up nets) needed.

2. Expanded Training Offer

Vienna’s two active Pickleball clubs now offer regular play opportunities:

• Monday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel: Open Play on 4 courts (by 1st Vienna Pickleball Club, Sven Szabo) All skill levels welcome. (15€ for guests, 8€ for members)
• Wednesday 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel: Children/youth training for everyone aged 10-18 on 4 courts (by Sportunion Rackathletes Austria, Peter Robic) The aim is to build up participants for the Austrian championships. FREE in May, starting May 8th.
• Wednesday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel: Women’s training on 4 courts (by Sportunion Rackathletes Austria, Peter Robic) The aim is to build up participants for the Austrian championships. FREE trial on May 8th.
• Thursday 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., Europahalle: Open Play on 4 courts (by Sportunion Rackathletes Austria, Peter Robic) All skill levels welcome. (€15 for guests, 3-month subscription for members for €53)
• Friday 6-8 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel: Advanced training (by Pickleball Federation Austria, Peter Robic). Participation by invitation. 8€ per person
• Sunday 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel: Open Play on up to 4 courts (by 1st Vienna Pickleball Club, Sven Szabo) All skill levels welcome. (15€ for guests, 8€ for members)

3. Events

• Register now for the 2nd Austrian Pickleball Championships on June 29 & 30 at Vienna Sporthotel via ON YOUR MARKS!
• 1st Pickleball tournament in Vorarlberg in “Americano mode” on May 18th in the Dornbirn exhibition hall. Information: flyer
• Pickleball Salzburg opening event had to be moved to 6. – 8. June: Nonntal Funcourt, Gschwandtner Str.6, 5020 Salzburg. Register via E-Mail.
• Join the Pickleball Czech Open on June 8 & 9. For more information, check out the Pickleball in Austria group on Facebook.
• Participate in a free Pickleball opening at Sportcenter Donaucity on May 7 from 4-8pm. FREE. Register via email to Philip Sulzbacher. Check out the flyer
• Compete in the Pickleball competition at the Eurogames, the world’s largest LGBTIQ+ sporting event, on July 18 & 19. Write an email to Peter Robic with subject line „Eurogames Pickleball“ to win 1 of 5 free participations.
